There is like a magical glow about Cannes, and the name makes us dream about red carpets, camera flashes and glamour! We are thinking, of course, of the famous film festival that takes place here every year in May, and where directors and movie stars from all around the world are competing for the much coveted “Palme d'Or”. Cannes is situated along the coast, in the bay that is formed between Antibes and Mandelieu-La Napoule, and is, with its approximately 75 000 inhabitants, one of the largest cities in the Alpes Maritimes. Cannes was born in ancient times as a modest Ligurian fisherman’s village. During the 19th century, wealthy Russian and English aristocrats were settling down here, and with them started the construction of many of the luxurious palaces that we associate with the town. Today, Cannes is a very popular tourist destination, appreciated for its beautiful architecture and lively nightlife. It organizes many conferences and festivals, thanks to the large convention centre Palais des Festivals.
Cannes is boasting an important aircraft industry, as well as its own space research centre. The mild Mediterranean climate and the beautiful beaches contributes widely to the town’s attractiveness. Cannes has a major railway station and most TGV trains stop here. Nice Airport is only half an hour away by the motorway. From Cannes old port, in the Suquet area, you easily catch the ferry boat to the major islands of Saint-Honorat and Sainte-Marguerite, just off the coast. As a curious fact can be mentioned that it was precisely here that the mythical man with the Iron Mask was held prisoner during a dramatic period in the 17th century. For gourmets, the choice is vast, ranging from cosy bistros, like «O Detour" and lively pavement cafés in the old town, to luxurious beachfront restaurants along la Croisette, such as the famous «3.14 PLAGE». For the culture - and history lovers there are several well-preserved castles to visit, such as the Château Louis XIII, with magnificent views all the way to the Lérins islands, or the sea museum on the island of Sainte-Marguerite. We have a large, very diverse range of properties to propose you in Cannes, whether you are looking for a cosy duplex apartment in charming Suquet, a luxury apartment with sea view on Pointe Croisette or a modern newly constructed apartment in the quieter residential area of Le Cannet. If you happen to pass by, please come in and visit us at Riviera Keys’ brand new office at the prestigious address of 17 boulevard de la Croisette!
