Mandelieu La Napoule
Along the bay of Cannes, between Cannes and Théoule-sur-Mer lies the municipality of Mandelieu-la-Napoule. Until 1970, Mandelieu and La Napoule were two separate towns, which then merged into one.
Madelieu-la-Napoule is currently counting around 23,000 inhabitants, which contrasts strongly with the only 400 people who lived here in the mid 1800's! It is a town that is constantly growing, thanks to its main source of income – the tourism industry.
Mandelieu is a paradise for those who appreciate sports. There are lovely sandy beaches, golf courses, sailing clubs and hiking trails, all in stunning scenic surroundings. The most renowned golf course is the "Old Course", which was inaugurated in 1891 thanks to the Grand Duchy of Russia, and which is one of the best situated courses in the world, only a few meters from the Mediterranean beaches. Not far from here is also the "Riviera Golf de Barbossi" course, which is one of very few combined golf courses/art museums! An excellent excursion tip for families is to book a trip with the boat "Cala Rossa Dream" to watch whales and swim with dolphins.
Four times a week, markets are held at various locations in town. Here you can shop fresh fruits and vegetables, locally produced honey, Provencal fabrics, sausages ... or just stroll around and enjoy all the lovely scents. You will find many good restaurants in Mandelieu, of which the most famous is "l'Oasis”, counting two stars in the Guide Michelin.
Each year in February, Mandelieu-la-Napoule's very own carnival is held; the Mimosa festival, with over 60,000 visitors. The festival is going on for eight days and every year more than 12 tons of mimosa are used in the festivities!
